The complex aromas of this wine include bright fruit, some spice from oak aging as well as some earthiness. The wine has a slightly elevated level of acidity but has a long finish that is smooth and rich. Cherry and raspberry fruit flavours dominate the wine.
The Cabernet Merlot blend was kept as separate varietals throughout fermenting and aging in barrels. Both the Cabernet Franc and the Merlot portions were harvested very ripe in October 2004. The wines spent between 10 - 11 months in American oak barrels that ranged in age from new to 4 years old. Both portions were taken out of barrel in the winter of 2005 and blended in one stainless steel tank. This blend was allowed to marry throughout the spring and was bottled in July 2006.
