Tasting Notes
This is Merlot with a difference: 100% estate-grown South Okanagan fruit from our Black Sage Bench (Diamondback) and Golden Mile Bench (Tinhorn Creek) vineyards. It was aged for 18 months in new French and American oak. The result is a rich, full bodied wine with concentrated cherry and berry fruit flavours and a smoky, peppery, herbal complexity.

Winemaker Notes
The 2006 vintage of the Oldfield Series Merlot is once again a slightly different blend from previous vintages. It consists of 93% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Syrah. The Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah were fermented separately in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation finished they were blended together in stainless steel tanks before moving into barrels for aging. After barrel aging it was blended together again before bottling. Like all red wine under the Oldfield Series label this wine was aged in bottle for over a year before release.
Food Pairing Notes
In summer, try with grilled steak, veal chop, or BBQ leg of lamb. In winter, serve with roast chicken or turkey, roast pork or a savoury stew.
